A short blog with some pictures for an awesome man who happens to be my husband of now 40!! years.  Today he celebrates 61 years of "being this side of dirt" as he says.  We often get caught up in life's every day happenings and forget the things that are truly important around us and this man is one of my biggest blessings.

It's been awhile since I have sat down to blog.  But with the recent activity that we had off our central coast of CA, I thought I would go check out Avila Beach this morning, before the crowds arrived.

I am sure many of you have seen the photos in newspapers nationwide.  (And, no, these were not photoshopped!) There was quite the frenzy of whale activity in the harbor town of Avila.  Just over the hills from me.  All this was going on during the week and when I heard that it took 30 minutes to drive the 5 miles, I thought I would try to catch something this morning, early.

I left home by 6:30am, thought I was doing well, with a cup of coffee in hand and a charged battery and my 70-200mm lens at the ready.  But what I will share, will actually be...quite a bore.

I caught the ridge on the back of a whale as it slipped into the water while I was looking north, he was surfacing behind me.  I heard the blow hole and whipped around to catch this...

WOW!! Did you see that???  No....not really.  :\

Then there were some dolphins...way out there, not jumping and displaying their antics as they did earlier this week...dorsal fins.

But it was a great start to the day to be at the water's edge, meeting and talking to many others that came out early hoping to see what we had missed earlier this week.

So I tip my hat to those that actually experienced these great creatures and caught those once in a lifetime shots.  I will continue to catch whatever captures my eye.

Laguna Seca Sights & Sounds-Thursday July 26, 2012

Thursday, a let it down day.  Time to get some rest and relax.  We rode for the first time, fresh air and salty air.  Went out for a late breakfast to Moss Landing and Phil's Fish Market.  They opened at 10 and we waited a few minutes to have the best snapper tacos!!  Must try if you make it there.  Phil is a pleasure to meet.

Other than than that, and cruise around Monterey and nap time...a nice easy day.

Oh, yes...late dinner with awesome friends that made me laugh so much I had a sore throat by the end of the night.  Dinner was a late reservation, but awesome!!  Another must is Monterey's  Fish House.  They had the biggest oysters I have ever seen, everything on the menu is excellent.

Laguna Seca Sights & Sounds-Wednesday July 25, 2012

Our annual trek to our favorite racetrack, Laguna Seca, has arrived.  We look forward to this each year.  A chance to get away from the rigors of work and be around timeless friends at a fantastic event.  Moto GP is quite impressive in a number of ways.  The international flair is great fun.  You can walk around the track and hear many different languages.  We have followed the sport for many, many years.  We have literally grown up with the motorcycle industry.

The PA is "testing" and that means practice will start soon.  This is now Friday and I will recap the last couple of days.

We bring our trailer up a week before the event, enjoy the quiet activity of watching the event setup.  The company of good friends and then usually head back to work for a few days, or less if we can.

We were able to make it back up on Wednesday!  Woo Hoo!  so what follows are a few photos from walking about an already, surprisingly setup infield and pit area.  No time being wasted this year.

Pismo Beach Classic Car Show 2012

Here it is already a week since the Pismo Beach Classic Car Show and I guess it always astonishes me the time it takes to carve out a bit of the day to go through the images and then pick some (that's a hard part) then edit and post in a few different places.

My daughter was coming home for the weekend, Father's Day and to pick up her deployed hubby's car that we had stored, (he is almost home!!!) I had seen a local "Meetup" sponsored by Light Workshops based in Los Osos, CA and decided to join a handful of other photographers to shoot for the morning.

Met at 6:30am...not bad, but it was a Saturday morning and Angela got in the night before.  But, being the troopers we are for a photo shoot with friends, we shot down the canyon and parked just a block away from meeting everyone.

Clear Skies! in Pismo!  in June!  at least for a bit.

It was a great time to be out and before the massive crowds arrived.
